Woodland meets farmland
Wooded slopes meet fields at the foot of the hills. Woodland and farmland belong together here, in the countryside where we work.
OUR ORIGIN · NANMIAO, YICHUN, JIANGXI
Zen Farm is our home in Nanmiao, Yichun. Wooded slopes meet cultivated fields here. We work with the seasons and care for our crops, bringing the same attention to our dried morels and to the people who source from us.

Nanmiao borders Wentang, bringing our farming town and its hot-spring neighbour together. Mingyue Mountain’s forests, Yangshan’s Chan heritage and Wentang’s springs give Yichun its character. Here in Nanmiao, we farm with care for the land and its food.

01 / THE LANDSCAPE
Peaks, forests, waterfalls and Moon Lake make Mingyue Mountain one of Yichun’s distinctive landscapes. The area is a national 5A scenic attraction. [1]
We farm among the wooded hills and fields of Nanmiao, Yichun. Our work follows the seasons, with care for the land, the crops and each harvest.

02 / THE CULTURE
Yichun holds an important place in the history of Chan Buddhism, known internationally through the related Zen tradition. The Weiyang, Linji and Caodong lineages have deep connections with the region. Yangshan Qiyin Temple, near Mingyue Mountain, is an ancestral temple of the Weiyang lineage. [2] [3]
For us, the name Zen Farm expresses a quiet commitment to our work. We value the daily care that farming asks of us and the time we spend working the land.

03 / THE SPRINGS
Wentang borders Nanmiao and is the hot-spring town of the Mingyue Mountain area. Wooded hills, farmland and thermal springs shape life across these neighbouring towns in Yichun. [3]
From the fields to the springs, Yichun’s seasons find their way into everyday meals. We hope to bring a taste of this place to more kitchens and tables.

世界硒养之都
“World Capital of Selenium Wellness”

In November 2019, Yichun received this designation from the scientific committee of the International Selenium Wellness Conference, as reported by Yichun’s official news channel. It recognises the city’s regional identity and selenium-related development. [4]
Agriculture in Yichun has close ties to the region’s selenium resources. China Geological Survey has documented selenium-rich land in Yuanzhou and other parts of Yichun. [5]
